Strut & Struggle is a way to show both the glamorous and the not-so-glamorous side of being a woman in the 21st century. In a world of perfect filters and curated lifestyles it can be easy to forget that it’s okay to be imperfect. I totally believe that the sassiest struts always come with a spoonful of struggle. No great night is complete without a little hangover, and occasionally an emergency bathroom outfit adjustment is just what the doctor ordered. I hope my tales of living as large as possible, while occasionally ordering food as large as possible, can empower you to be both the queen and the couch potato you really are…so go on with your bad self, girl.
If my life had a catch phrase, it would be, “Clicquot taste, Andre budget.” I’m always trying to find ways to live my dreams regardless of everyday obstacles. Budget restrictions, lack of time, and stress are definitely legitimate concerns, but I believe if you want to make something work you have to get a little creative…even if that means taking the red eye home and going straight to the office on zero sleep, spending hours online to find the perfect $20 coffee table, or learning to bake a cake without flour or eggs (shout out to my boyfriend for being allergic to literally everything). With this mindset, I’ve been able to do so much more than I thought possible and have found that you can make almost anything work if you just make a few adjustments.
A Chicago native, I moved to Austin, TX about two years ago. I live here with my boyfriend, Steve, and our perfect (sometimes psychotic) golden doodle, Darla Anne. We spend most of our time traveling, trying new restaurants, cooking, working out (mostly Steve), going to the movies, and planning our next adventure.
I hope that Strut & Struggle encourages you to step out of your comfort zone and just make things happen. Book a flight to that new city, hunt for that bargain piece, fake your way into that private event- don’t be afraid to strut just because you might struggle along the way.
